The Esmé Quartet explores music from a young Australian composer alongside the forever young Mendelssohn. Kirill Gerstein encapsulates the power and the poetry of the virtuoso piano, and the voices of The Choir of King's College, Cambridge put glorious tradition in counterpoint with today. In a meeting of two beautiful minds, violinist Pekka Kuusisto and singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane conjure up a new song cycle. A crack team of Australian musicians invites us to listen to sounds of the world's oldest culture with Ensemble Q and William Barton. Finally, Musica Alchemica is a breath of feisty, fresh air from Europe, playing out the year with much-loved music of the Baroque.
